Christ College (Jagdalpur), was founded in 2001 by Carmelities of Mary Immaculate (CMI), with a view to blend sacred and secular education. It is a self-financing religious minority institution for higher education affiliated to BASTAR VISHWAVIDYALAYA, JAGDALPUR.CMI is the first indigenous religious congregation in India with a membership of more than 2000. It renders service to humanity in educational, social, healthcare, and other fields aiming at integral development. From the early decades of 1970s, CMI has been dedicated to uplifting the lives of people of Bastar region. CMI has been instrumental in establishing the following educational institutions in the region.Christ College, Jagdalpur, Christ College of Nursing, Jagdalpur, Samanvaya Theological College, Kolchoor, Nirmal Vidylaya, Jagdalpur, Nirmal Technical Training Centre, Bodhghat, St. Joseph’s School, Bhanupratapur, Vidya Jyoti School, Jagdalpur, Nirmal Niketan School, Dantewada, Chavara School, Dugoli, Amar Jyoti School, Junavar, St. Thomas School, Kapsi.
The Planned and efficient leadership and farsightedness of the pioneers of this mission resulted in the establishment of Christ College, Jagdalpur.
