North Bengal University Darjeeling

The University of North Bengal is a public university located in Siliguri. It was established in 1962. The university gets the government grant.

The university provides multiple undergraduate and postgraduate programs across different fields. The flagship program is the 5-year integrated BA LLB (Honours) Course. There are 30 departments offering courses in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Law, Commerce, Media, Mass Communication, Journalism, Computer Application, IT and Education.

University enrolls over 36,000 undergraduate and more than 1,500 postgraduate students per year including those in the affiliated colleges.

The campus spans approximately 331 acres. It has comprehensive student facilities, including hostels, a library, an auditorium, a cafeteria, IT infrastructure, wi-fi, sports, a gym, a medical clinic, laboratories, a convenience store and parking.

Admissions are based on a merit-list from last qualifying examination. For MBA programs candidates need valid scores from specific entrance exams.

The university has a B++ grade accreditation from NAAC and recognition from UGC. It ranks 149th in India and 3875th globally in 2024, performing in top 50% across 33 research domains.

University has partnered with Indian army to establish a research center supporting defense forces.

In 2022 73 UG and PG students secured placements. The median package for UG students was INR 60,000 and for PG students it was INR 3.27 LPA.
