Jadavpur University Kolkata

Jadavpur University is a public state university located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was established in 1906 as Bengal Technical Institute and became Jadavpur University in 1955. It is government-aided and autonomous. 

The university campus covers 58 acres in the Jadavpur. Jadavpur University provides a broad range of programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The flagship program of the university is B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering.

As of 2023 university has 13,570 students. This includes 8,148 undergraduates, 3,134 postgraduates and 2,288 doctoral students. The faculty-student ratio is approximately 1-30. 

The university offers many facilities. These include separate hostels for boys and girls, a guest house, a library, a daycare center and a health center. Additional facilities include a gym, cafeteria and auditorium. 

For admissions Jadavpur University considers academic merits and entrance exam scores. For UG and PG courses in Arts and Science faculty admissions depend on respective departmental entrance exams. University accepts national-level entrance tests like WBJEE, GATE, NATA, MAT and XAT.

Jadavpur University holds an 'A' grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). In NIRF 2023 ranking it was ranked 4th among universities.

University has international collaborations including exchange programs like SYLFF and Erasmus Mundus. These programs allow students to study abroad for one or two semesters.

Placements - Placement rate at Jadavpur University is around 80-85%. Salaries offered typically range from 15,000 to 20,000 rupees. The highest placement package in 2023 reached INR 85 LPA.
