Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) is an autonomous engineering institute in West Bengal. It was established in 1961. JGEC is the second oldest engineering college in the state. College is located in Jalpaiguri. It is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.

JGEC offers six undergraduate courses- Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. It also provides two postgraduate courses- Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. College employs around 100 faculty members across seven departments. Of these 20 hold PhD degrees and 31 have postgraduate degrees.

College includes different facilities, like a library, sports equipment, a gym, a cafeteria, an auditorium, medical services, IT infrastructure and specialized laboratories in each department. Admission to JGEC relies on WBJEE scores for B.Tech programs and WB PGET or GATE scores for M.Tech programs. 

JGEC has received approval from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and NAAC. In the 2023 IIRF ranking, JGEC's B.Tech program was rated 161 out of 170 colleges in India.

Placement statistics indicate that approximately 96% of students secure jobs with highest salary package at 13 LPA and lowest at 4 LPA.
