Government College Of Engineering And Ceramic Technology (GCECT) Kolkata

The Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT) is a government institute located in Kolkata. Established in 1941 it was founded by Professor Sasadhar Ray.

GCECT is an autonomous institute affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. It offers undergraduate programs in B.Tech and B.Tech Lateral. Postgraduate program available is MTech The B.Tech in Ceramic Technology is flagship course. The college has dedicated departments for Ceramic Technology, Information Technology and Computer Science & Engineering.

The college features a Central Computer Centre, labs for each department, a workshop, a canteen, an auditorium and a library.

Admission to B.Tech requires performance in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE). B.Tech Lateral requires candidates to take JELET while M.Tech candidates need a valid GATE score. GCECT has received an 'A' grade accreditation from NAAC and approval from AICTE. B.Tech and M.Tech courses in Ceramic Technology and B.Tech in Information Technology are accredited by NBA.

In 2023, GCECT's B.Tech program ranked 122 out of 170 in India by IIRF. The college collaborates with IIT Kharagpur for Jute Cement Composite research. The placement average package is approximately Rs.5.5 LPA with a placement rate of over 90% for Ceramic Technology and 60-70% for Computer Science and IT. Notable companies recruiting from GCECT include TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech, IBM, Hitachi and Amazon.
