Loyola College is an autonomous Jesuit college founded by the Society of Jesus in 1925, and is affiliated to the University of Madras, though it achieved autonomy in 1978. As such, it is a Catholic Minority Institution, whose primary objective remains to provide a university education in a Christian atmosphere for all students irrespective of creed or caste.

It consistently ranks among the top five institutions in India for degree programs in commerce, arts, natural sciences and social sciences, and was re-accredited an A Grade by NAAC in 2013. The college’s 20 departments offer a total of 107 undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., M. Phil. and various vocational courses to students.

The admission into UG and PG programs is on the basis of merit marks scored in Class 12 and the candidate’s Bachelor’s degree respectively. The college also conducts interviews for all courses, and candidates applying for PG programs will additionally have to sit for an entrance test as well.

The college campus is spread across 400,000 sq. m. of land in the heart of Chennai, and is well-equipped with facilities such as a central and digital library, hostels for men and women, a steepled Gothic church, a health center, a food court, and a sports pavilion and gymnasium.

Application and Admission Procedure

The candidates need to read the instructions carefully and then proceed to fill the form. The candidate needs to fill the online application form available on official website.

  • The candidates need to register and then fill the application form with personal and educational details.
  • Upload a scanned copy of the documents required.
  • Once the application is generated, choose the shifts preference and the courses applied for.
  • The last step is to make the payment which can be done through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking or Cash in any branch of Axis Bank (through EASY PAY) .For EASY PAY in any branch of AXIS BANK, a challan has to be generated in order to pay the money.
  • The processing fee for the UG courses is 150INR, 200INR for post graduate courses and 500INR for M.Phil courses.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel

Hostel accommodations are available by the college for both the male and female students. The number of rooms is limited in the hostels so students who want to stay in hostel have to apply as soon as they got admission to the college.

Campus facilities

The college’s campus is equipped with all the facilities that are needed for the development of the students. Other than academics the college also takes responsibility to motivate students to participate in cultural and physical activities.

To encourage students’ participation the college has open many activity clubs such as Enviro club, Consumer club , Loyola press club, Rotaract club,  Sports club, Loyola debating and quiz club, Loyola brass band, NCC – air wing , Loyola FM radio and many more.

The Loyola College celebrates many functions with great enthusiasm like annual day, carnival, cultural fests the Ovations; many inter-college competitions, Denarius the commerce fest and Zenith the management fest.
