Loyola College is an autonomous Jesuit college founded by the Society of Jesus in 1925, and is affiliated to the University of Madras, though it achieved autonomy in 1978. As such, it is a Catholic Minority Institution, whose primary objective remains to provide a university education in a Christian atmosphere for all students irrespective of creed or caste.

It consistently ranks among the top five institutions in India for degree programs in commerce, arts, natural sciences and social sciences, and was re-accredited an A Grade by NAAC in 2013. The college’s 20 departments offer a total of 107 undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., M. Phil. and various vocational courses to students.

The admission into UG and PG programs is on the basis of merit marks scored in Class 12 and the candidate’s Bachelor’s degree respectively. The college also conducts interviews for all courses, and candidates applying for PG programs will additionally have to sit for an entrance test as well.

The college campus is spread across 400,000 sq. m. of land in the heart of Chennai, and is well-equipped with facilities such as a central and digital library, hostels for men and women, a steepled Gothic church, a health center, a food court, and a sports pavilion and gymnasium.

Application and Admission Procedure

The candidates need to read the instructions carefully and then proceed to fill the form. The candidate needs to fill the online application form available on official website.

  • The candidates need to register and then fill the application form with personal and educational details.
  • Upload a scanned copy of the documents required.
  • Once the application is generated, choose the shifts preference and the courses applied for.
  • The last step is to make the payment which can be done through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking or Cash in any branch of Axis Bank (through EASY PAY) .For EASY PAY in any branch of AXIS BANK, a challan has to be generated in order to pay the money.
  • The processing fee for the UG courses is 150INR, 200INR for post graduate courses and 500INR for M.Phil courses.

Hostel

Hostel accommodations are available by the college for both the male and female students. The number of rooms is limited in the hostels so students who want to stay in hostel have to apply as soon as they got admission to the college.

Campus facilities

The college’s campus is equipped with all the facilities that are needed for the development of the students. Other than academics the college also takes responsibility to motivate students to participate in cultural and physical activities.

To encourage students’ participation the college has open many activity clubs such as Enviro club, Consumer club , Loyola press club, Rotaract club,  Sports club, Loyola debating and quiz club, Loyola brass band, NCC – air wing , Loyola FM radio and many more.

The Loyola College celebrates many functions with great enthusiasm like annual day, carnival, cultural fests the Ovations; many inter-college competitions, Denarius the commerce fest and Zenith the management fest.

    Remarks

    The college has one of the best infrastructure in the state. The management of the college is pretty strict. The college also has great crows and you will find a lot of students from different background and everyone here lives in peace and harmony.


    Entrance Exam

    My 12th marks were all i had to submit for my seat in this prestigious institution after my name appeared on the merit list i had to go for a personal interview where 2 professors asked me about what i liked about schooling etc post which we were given admission.


    Fees

    The fees are very reasonable and economy there to they provide various scholraships, concessions, fees deductions you have to pay for each semesters the fees are based on subjects. As per the rules every year it gets changed. Also, there are 2 shift, the fee for morning is very cheap and fee for evening is very high.


    Placements

    ost of the students in my batch were placed through the placement cell programs companies like Amazon, Delloite, RBS, GS etc had recruited more than 100 students in total students who were interested in working right after college could easily get placed in the numerous opportunities given for placements.


    Hostel and Facilities

    Being a day scholar i don't have much info about the hostel fcailitis but as being told by frinds. The college does porovide good hostel with all the basic facilities. There are also some bakery and scack shoips and the best part is students have a say to keep or let go the shop.


    Alumni

    Our college also provides for alumni membership with lot of opportunities to stay up connected with ex students of the college. Its a pretty grand function.


    Faculty

    The faculty here is well learnt and had good teaching skills some of them were so good that we're still in touch with them. They are strict when it comes to academics but also participate in fun activities with us. 


    Campus Life

    College life was always good and buuzzing we had smaller clubs like rotract, entrepreneurship development cell, EDC, SIFE, AISEC etc that conducted workshops and events around the city and interested students got good exposure in the relevant field.     Academics

    We have two internal exams in one external semester exams internal exams carry's 80 marks & 20 marks is based on assignments and presentations conducted by the staff and end semester is for 100 marks.


    Internships

    Actually i'm about to go to an internship we have to search for an organisation which relates with our course and we have to submit a report on our internship program and marks will be based on the report and viva.


    Loans and Scholarships

    The college offers scholarship to students with real high IQ as well as students were great in sports. They wereofferedd scholarship upto 100% of their fee.
