S.M.R. East Coast College of Engineering and Technology, Thanjavur is affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Trichy and approved by AICTE, government of India, New Delhi. A strong and committed engineering base is an important pre-requisite for rapid and holistic industrialization and hence the trust decided to establish engineering institutions covering a range of disciplines in addition to instructional area, there are separate hostels for boys & girls and a fully modernised canteen to provide tasty and sumptuous food at nominal cost.

The students have a distinctive identity of their own and are carving a niche for themselves by developing hard work and become confident each. The college provides Placement Training cell functions to train the students outside the curriculum on subjects like communication skills, Personality Development, Aptitude Tests etc. The Cell also organizes mock tests and interviews to prepare the students to face interviews and tests, Placement and Training Cell frequently interacts with the Industry and MNCs and also makes them visit the Institution.
