Anna University is a technical public university established by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It was set up in 1978 in Guindy, Chennai.
The university has 6 Government Engineering colleges, 3 Government-aid private universities and 426 self-financed colleges under its flagship. All of the engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu are affiliated to this university.
It is approved by UGC and is accredited by NAAC, NBA and is a member of AIU (Association of Indian Universities). It also offers distance education through Anna University Centre for Distance Education approved by AICTE and DEB (Distance Education Bureau).
For admission, aspirants have to appear for an entrance test conducted by the university. TNEA and TANCET are also conducted by the university.

How to apply:
The interested candidates can register for entrance examination through the below mentioned procedures:
The Online form fill up can be done via Internet, the candidates can fill up the application form and can submit the application form. The examination fees can be paid by Demand draft. Other documents (as instructed) should also be uploaded at the time of online registration.
For Offline form fill up, the candidate needs to complete the registration procedure in person. The examination fees needs to be paid in cash along with all the Xerox copies of the required documents.
After successfully submitting the admission form, the administrator of the university issues hall tickets. The candidates need to collect them via Online or Offline. After successfully clearing the entrance examination, the candidates are called for counselling. At the time of counselling, the candidates must carry all the required documents.
Hostel and Facilities
The Campus of Anna University extends over 200 acres of land and is built among thick green vegetation. The University hosts a number of cultural, sports and academic events across each academic year.
There are many clubs for the students and by the students such as the Literary club, Kurukshetra – a technical event, Siruthuli Charity Club – financial and medical aid group, South Asia Centre for Engineering Education, ITrix for research activities across domains, National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, Netlish – Web magazine and many more.
