About the Institute
The Institute of Engineering and Technology was established by the Uttar Pradesh Government in the year 1984 for imparting all kinds of technical and engineering education and also promote technological research. The institute is completely financed by the government of Uttar Pradesh and it is run by the Institute of Engineering and Technology Society (under the Societies Act 1980) through their own Board of Governors. The Lucknow campus was opened in 1984 and initially, only engineering courses under the B. Tech degree were introduced, over time management courses were also added after recognizing the need for dedicated managers who can take on the corporate world and change society in general through leadership skills.
How to apply
The application form is available at the IET Lucknow website located at ietlucknow.edu and students need to apply to the State Entrance Exam held by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University of Lucknow. Upon receiving the scores students may apply through the admission portal or send their applications to the college website.
The admission to the institute is strictly on the basis of the UPTU examination held by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow. Candidates are shortlisted based on their academic profile and UPTU scores for a round of Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Candidates who clear all the subsequent rounds are called for admission and they have to register within the allotted time period.
Candidate should have graduated in any discipline with at least 50% marks from any recognized university to be eligible for admission to the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow. Students who are in the final year of their graduation may also apply and will be registered with the institute only when they show their final mark sheet.

There are various activity rooms and sports facilities for recreation and fitness purposes.
The hostels available in Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow are one of the best. Separate accommodation is provided to boys and girls. All rooms are properly furnished and necessary amenities are readily available throughout the day.
Placements at the institute have been very strong in since its inception and there have been major recruiters from all over the country and even abroad who come year after year to recruit at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow. Some of the biggest names include Axis Bank, Reliance Insurance and YES Bank.
Institute of Engineering and Management has consistently ranked among the top 50 institutes across various publications as technical institute as well as a management institute.
Various scholarship facilities are available at the Institute of Technology and Management through the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s scholarship programs.
Student life is very tedious as well as entertaining at the Institute of Engineering and Management. There are various activity rooms that provide recreation and entertainment to students. Students are often taken for industry visits for hands on learning and life changing experiences.
Applications are invited by the college through the UPTU examinations. Applications open after the UPTU results are declared and the following rounds of the selection process start from May or June. Students who are selected get a notification by the end of July and classes begin by July end or August.

To pursue MBA at IET students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.
The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary / Higher Secondary / Pre-degree Examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board / University.
Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor's degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before June 30. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by October 31. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they will be required to produce a letter from their College Principal / Head of Institution stating the exam dates.
Candidates with appropriate industry experience will be given preference for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage in terms of the organization, position held and duration.
Selected candidates will be called to attend Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Multiple Group Discussion & Personal Interview lists will be released in phases, both before and after the Application Deadline. The intimation for interview & group discussion is done through registered post and e-mail. In the case of some programs, Group Discussion may not be conducted, in favor of a rigorous interview process.
The selection criteria for calling candidates for admissions is based on multiple factors as follows:
- Past academic performance
- Quality & content of the answers in the application form
- Work experience, if any , in terms of job content & organization
- Group Discussion & Interview performance (applicable for final admissions only)
- Extra curricular activities, other interests & accomplishments
- Competitive Test score (CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT)
A combination of all the above factors are used to determine the eligibility of candidates to be offered final admission. Test scores are NOT the only criteria for selection.
A high test score does not guarantee a call for Group Discussion/Interview. The selection criteria are based on multiple factors as mentioned above.
