Assam Engineering College (AEC) is located in Guwahati. It was established in 1955. AEC is first undergraduate engineering college in northeastern India. College covers an area of over 400 acres. It is a public institute operated by the state of Assam. AEC offers undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs. AEC is affiliated with Assam Science and Technology University.

College provides Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) degrees in eight engineering disciplines. It also offers Master of Engineering (M.E) degrees a Master in Computer Application (MCA) degree and PhD programs. Student population exceeds 2000 with over 100 faculty members. The student-to-faculty ratio is approximately 1-16.

Facilities at AEC include a digital library, a student activity center, a computer center and bus services. Admission requires clearing the Assam CEE and JEE mains/Advance. For lateral entry into B.E students must pass Assam JLEE.

AEC is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
