West Bengal State University (WBSU) is a public university located in Barasat, Kolkata. It was established in 2008. Campus covers an area of 29 acres.

The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Business Administration and Physical Education. It has 31 PG teaching departments and a total student population of over 1600. Sanctioned strength for PG departments is 1256.

All 55 colleges in North 24 Paraganas which were previously affiliated with University of Calcutta are now under WBSU.

WBSU provides multiple facilities, including Wi-Fi, medical support, a gym, a sports complex, libraries, practical labs, IT centers, an auditorium and hostels for both girls and boys. The university conducts its own entrance examination for admissions while also accepting scores from different national and state-level tests.
