Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya is a state public university based in Puri in Odisha. It was established in 1981. University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized the university.

The university aims to promote studies and research in Sanskrit. It is the third Sanskrit university among the eighteen in India. The institute offers undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral programs. It has eight postgraduate departments and a BEd department.

167 Sanskrit Higher Secondary Schools and 138 Sanskrit Degree Colleges in Odisha are affiliated with the university. University received accreditation from NAAC with a B+ grade.

Admissions to different courses including the BEd program are through Shiksha Shastri Entrance Test (SSET).

The university provides multiple facilities. It has two hostels, a guest house, a health centre, an auditorium, a sports complex and a library. Library contains 35,000 books, 500 journals, 200 manuscripts and 16 magazines.
