The Government College of Engineering, Salem was established in 1966. It is located in Salem, Tamil Nadu. The college covers an area of 400 acres. College is approved by AICTE and UGC. It is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai.

College offers six undergraduate, four part-time undergraduate, six postgraduate and PhD programs. BE program runs for four years with an intake of 480 seats. The institute is recognized for PhD research in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
