Madras Institute of Technology was established in 1949 right after India gained independence, is affiliated to Anna University Chennai and has been accredited by NBA and NAAC.

The department of applied sciences offers an M. Phil in Mathematics and an M. Sc degree in Applied Mathematics.
Institute facilities include- Well equipped separate hostels for both boys and girls, a daycare centre for the children of the students, cooperative stores, health centre, sports facilities, lecture hall complex, auditorium, open-air theatre, library and two old hangars.
Hostel and Facilities
Hostel
This college provides hostel facility to both boys and girls students. At present, it has total 9 hostels among that 5 are for boys and 4 for girls students.
All the hostels are situated within the college campus. Rooms are spacious, well-furnished and have all basic amenitieselectricity connection, water, RO drinking water.
Campus Facilities
It has a well-stocked library which has around 82,923 books. Besides that, it also has book bank and e book bank for backward class students, reprography services, and videofacility.
The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
It providesin campus sports facilitieslike badminton, basketball, hockey, throw ball, artificial mountain climbing.
It has a tuck shop . The students can get their daily necessity items from this shop.

Remarks
The infrastructure is a bit old as the college was built a century back. Though the academic status of the college is regarded as one of the best in the state and country. There is no discrimination of any kind.
Entrance Exam
Admission process is through one window counselling. There is no interview process. I have to admit ,getting admission in this college is a big deal.
Fees
It's absolutely feasible. The fee depends upon the /quota you belong to. For general quota it is 8000 for an odd semester and 7000 for even. Along with the hostel the students have to pay a total of Rs 25000 for odd and 22000 for even semesters.
Placements
Placements and job opportunities are more likely to have for software departments like if ECE and CSC. These guys who have a sound knowledge of programming will enter many big companies that come for campus selection. Even hardware guys can attend the campus interview but must have knowledge of computer programming. Top recruiting companies are Microsoft,Google,Amazon,Oracle,Tata motors,Aricent,TCS,Air bus which are providing a package of more than 20 lakhs per annum.
Hostel and Facilities
Overall the hostel is excellent and there are power back ups for the hostels as well. The hostel rooms are well spaced and the hostel atmosphere is filled with laughter and knowledge.The hostels are cleaned daily and the toilets are cleaned twice a day.The rooms are on sharing basis and there are no single rooms.
Alumni
We have a good link with our alumni and they help us to develop our college.Every year our alumni association donates some amount for the development of the college. They also offer us various scholarships
Faculty
Our staff are well experienced and are steady through their teaching process with tons of knowledge.The classes are completely interactive and there are more seminars and team works in our classes.
Campus Life
Our college has all sort of extra curricular activities like dancing,singing,acting, playing, drama etc .
Academics
Internships
Our college does provide internships opportunities. A lot of companies like google, amazon, hire interns. The average stipend is around Rs 5-20k. The placement departments and the faculty help us in getting internships. My internship was very fun and I got Rs 10k as stipend.
Loans and Scholarships
The college does offer scholarships to meritorious students as well as students belonging to lower income group. Scholarships upto Rs 25k is offered. The college also helps in arranging loans for the students.
Remarks
Our college management just aims at the academic side of the student but not the other side. It does not focus on fields other than the academic side which is one of the worst thing about our college. It does not encourage sports in the campus and many facilities aren't being provided
Entrance Exam
Admission is based on entrance by anna university. Admission is on the basis counseling. it is one of the renowned and popular colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Fees
Since it is a Government college the fee structure is very less and our hostel fees also low as compared to other colleges. When you compare to the private college fees MIT was offering the course in a very low fees.
Placements
Many companies came for the placement cell namely Accenture,TCS,HCL, Google, Microsoft,CodeNation and many companies came for placements. 83% of the people were placed through the placement cell. The highest paid package is 14 lakh to a student by Google.
Hostel and Facilities
There are 5 hostels for boys and 1 for girls. Being a government college, the hostel are not in that great condition. There are 2 messes (Veg as well as Non-Veg), The food quality is also not that good.
Alumni
Alumni meeting will be conducted once on a year. Ragging is still persisting in the college and the senior junior relationship is not upto the mark in our college.
Faculty
Though its a government college and, the classes took place properly. The faculty put in a lot of effort in giving us a conceptual understanding. Though someof the faculty is young and needs more experience.
Campus Life
Very good life. Had full range of fun while studying. We had about 80:20 ratio on Men & Women. Very decent relationship. People from various social and cultural status studied together.
Academics
A total of three assessments are conducted in a semester which are included for the Internal marks and the final end semester exams are conducted for the external marks.
Internships
Internship was very good. I had them in Hindustan Motors Hosur and also in TVS Car Service Stations. They gave a different experience and showed how the real industry life will be after completion of the course. There were no stipend offered since they are short term ones.
Loans and Scholarships
The scholarship is given based on the 12th board exam scores and parent's annual income. They provide 30k per year if hostel fees is included else 15k per year. I don’t have much info about the loans.
