Marthoma College, Chungathara, was founded in October, 1981 by the Mar Thoma Church, under the able leadership of the great visionary Rt. Rev. Easow Mar Thimotheos Episcopa, with its great Motto, ‘Let your Light Shine’. It started as an institution for the rural development, since it was established in an educationally, socially and financially backward area. We are proud to announce that the college has lived upto its Motto and has been able to provide the best possible education to all sections of the society. The college always tried to uphold the noblest Christian ideals and offered its services to the members of all religions, caste and communities. We would also like to state that by the grace of God, beyond our abilities, all the infrastructure facilities built up by the college is without the U.G.C or Government assistance or even without collecting any amount from the staff at the time of appointment but through local contributions, contributions of the church members and well wishers from in and outside the country. We hope to get the U.G.C affiliation at the earliest. Our college seeks to mould the minds of youngmen and women by developing their physical, intellectual, aesthetic, moral and spiritual abilities and powers. The staff and students of the community of the Mar Thoma College hold a rich diversity of religious views, ideas, attitudes, tastes and temperaments. The college is acclaimed for its curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities through the years.

1. College Union –At the college there is a college union formed in which 2 students from the college are elected. The college union is very active in the college and organizes certain activities for the students of the college. The union publishes a yearly magazine in which students of the students contribute and also suggests the name for the magazine. In addition to this the union also arranges for seminars on several subjects for the awareness of the students.
