Chandragupt Institute of Management was established as an autonomous institute in the year 2008 under the Societies Act, with the help of a morale encouraging and financial supportive attitude of the government of Bihar.

The institute was established with the main aim of forming an excellent institute in the state of Bihar for training students to be excellent managers and provide higher education course to the young and talented students of the state.

It is one of the leading institutes in the field of management studies. It offers varied two-year postgraduate courses in the institute and the first batch of the same passed out in 2010 with 100% placement record. It offers a two-year postgraduate diploma in Management.

The admission to the postgraduate course of this institute is done on the basis of XAT, CAT and MAT. The percentile obtained in these national level entrance examinations is considered for preliminary selection which is further followed by group discussion, debate and personal interview. The seats are allocated purely on merit basis.

The fully computerized state of the art Library Resource Center has 8400 books, 115 print journals, 18 newspapers, 100 video CDs and 852 Harvard University classic collections.
