Formerly known as the Guru Ghasidas University, the Gur Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur was set up in 1983 and is established under Central Universities Act, 2009. The Department of Management Studies was established by the university in 1988. The Department is offers an AICTE approved two year full time MBA Program and a Ph.D course as well.
About the MBA ProgramThe two year MBA program at the department is affiliated to Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya and has the following electives on offer for students:
- Marketing
- Finance
- Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Development
Those aspiring for admission in the MBA program of Department of Management Studies, GGV, must have completed their graduation with at least 50% aggregate (45% for ST/SC Candidates) marks. Those awaiting their results may also apply provided they are able to produce an attested copy of their mark sheet during the GD/PI round.
The candidate must also possess a valid CMAT score.

This form is to be submitted along with an application fees of Rs.400 (Rs.200 for SC/ST Candidates), to be paid through a Bank Challan or a demand draft drawn in favor of Registrar, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya Bilaspur (C.G.) and payable at Bilaspur, (C.G.).
Admission ProcedureThe department follows a comprehensive evaluation in order to grant admissions. The candidates are tested on multiple fronts. The final selection is based on their performance in the following:
- CMAT Score
- Group Discussion
- Personal Interview
The annual fees for pursuing the two year MBA Program at Department of Management Studies, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is Rs.15,000. This amount does not include the examination fees and the fees for GGU Young Managers’ Club & GGU Management Alumni Association.

Campus FacilitiesBeing housed inside the University Campus, the students of the department can avail the facilities of both the department as well as the University. This includes access to the university library which is stocked with over 1,05,000 books and has a subscription to over 150 national and international journals. The department itself has a building of its own, equipped with a department library, computer center and a state of the art conference hall.
Hostel FacilitiesThe university has two hostels, one each for boys and girls with a capacity of 775 and 502 respectively. The hostel charges are highly reasonable.

Eligibility
To pursue MBA at GGU students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.
The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary / Higher Secondary / Pre-degree Examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board / University.
Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor's degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before June 30. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by October 31. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they will be required to produce a letter from their College Principal / Head of Institution stating the exam dates.
Candidates with appropriate industry experience will be given preference for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage in terms of the organization, position held and duration.
Admission Procedure
Selected candidates will be called to attend Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Multiple Group Discussion & Personal Interview lists will be released in phases, both before and after the Application Deadline. The intimation for interview & group discussion is done through registered post and e-mail. In the case of some programs, Group Discussion may not be conducted, in favor of a rigorous interview process.
The selection criteria for calling candidates for admissions is based on multiple factors as follows:
- Past academic performance
- Quality & content of the answers in the application form
- Work experience, if any , in terms of job content & organization
- Group Discussion & Interview performance (applicable for final admissions only)
- Extra curricular activities, other interests & accomplishments
- Competitive Test score (CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT)
A combination of all the above factors are used to determine the eligibility of candidates to be offered final admission. Test scores are NOT the only criteria for selection.
A high test score does not guarantee a call for Group Discussion/Interview. The selection criteria are based on multiple factors as mentioned above.
