The Government College of Technology, Coimbatore (GCT) is a public institute established in 1945. GCT is affiliated with Anna University.

It provides undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral programs across major departments. College offers 9 specializations for B.E. 11 for M.E. and PhD and MS programs under recognized research supervisors.

GCT has separate hostels for boys and girls. It also houses a library with a wide variety of books and journals. Students have access to both indoor and outdoor sports equipment. Admissions for BE and B.Tech courses require TNEA scores. ME candidates must take the TANCET exam. Valid GATE scores also qualify candidates for ME admissions.
