Sri Sarada College of Education Salem, Tamil Nadu was established in 1968.

The college gained autonomous status in 1988-89. Since 2008 it has been affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai.

The college offers a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) program. BEd program is flagship course. College also provides a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Education.

Sri Sarada College of Education has around 2400 students and 120+ faculty members. College includes different facilities like a hostel, IT infrastructure, laboratories, a cafeteria, an auditorium, a gym, medical facilities, alumni associations and a library.

It is approved by the National Council of Teacher Education. The college received a Three-star accreditation by NAAC in 1999 and was reaccredited with an 'A' grade in March 2007. It retained the 'A' grade in September 2014.

In terms of rankings college was placed in Rank Band of 101-150 by NIRF in 2023. The college has international collaborations. For example it conducted a webinar with Ambo University, Ethiopia and North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong.
