Bapuji Institute of Technology is a private un-aided engineering and technology college which is located in the city of Devangere in the heart of Karnataka. Established in 1979, it has been affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

The institute has been recognised as the “Reputed Scientific Institute” by the Ministry of Environment and Forest.

Around 15 disciplines of undergraduate and 7 postgraduate courses are offered by the college.

The campus sprawls over an area of 61.5 acres with an on campus hostel facility for women and off-campus for men. Various facilities such as sports, internet, banking, society, transportation, reprography and medical facilities are provided to the students.

A satellite based distance learning program known as EDUSAT is offered to the students. Around 9 types of scholarships are provided to the minority, handicapped and merit-based students.

Placements are provided to the students through a series of tests based on introduction, aptitude, group discussion and interview by major IT and textile companies. The average package offered is around 3.3 Lakhs/annum.

Placement Procedure

Step 1: Introduction of the company – usually it is a pre-placement discussion, between the representatives of the company and the students to recruit them and tell them about its major accomplishments, history, products andservices. This is basically to enlighten the students about some crucial facts about the company and help them for the interview selection.

Step 2: Aptitude Test – Aptitude test consists of questions related to Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability. Usually these tests are easy and require logic to crack them.

STEP 3: Group Discussion [GD] (applicable only to a few companies )- All the companies do not take group discussion [ GD ]. There is a noticeable reference that usually companies with high packages take GD. A single GD round involves 6-8 candidates. The round takes place for nearly 20 mins, where a board of 3 or more judges make judgements throughout the round.

Step 4: Interview ( technical + HR ) – Generally this is the final stage for the selection of the candidate.There can be two rounds for it where technical and personal questions are asked in separate rounds, but usually there is just one round for both the genres.

Eligibility Criteria for Placements

• Mostly companies require a minimum of 60% aggregate for all semesters. Others like Microsoft ask for a 70% aggregate.
• Some companies do allow upto 2 back papers, but some do not allow for back logs at all.

The average placement package officered is around 3.3 lakhs/annum.

The University has two hostels for both boys and girls, i.e, Amurtha Ladies Hostel and BIET boys hostel. Both of them have a different fee structure.
