Bit Sindri Dhanbad

Birsa Institute of Technology Sindri (BIT Sindri) is a government engineering college located in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. The institute started in 1949.

It is affiliated with Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi. It provides 10 undergraduate programs, 5 postgraduate programs and PhD options. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) program is its flagship offering. 

The total number of students are around 900 and faculty has around 200 teachers. The institute specializes in 10 engineering disciplines including Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Computer Science & Engineering.

Facilities include an auditorium, sports grounds, gym, healthcare center, lecture halls, library and canteen. It has a Centre of Excellence in partnership with Siemens. Admission to the B.Tech program requires passing the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE). Admission to M.Tech programs considers GATE Scores.

The institute holds approvals from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). 

Rankings - It was placed 5th in Jharkhand by NIRF 2022 and 251 among the top 300 engineering colleges in India. Outlook ranked it 30th among engineering colleges in India in 2019.

In 2023 the average placement package was INR 7 Lakhs with the top 10 percent of students earning INR 10 Lakhs. Highest salary offer was INR 50 Lakhs per annum.
