The Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg (BIT Durg) is located in Durg. It was established in 1986 as the first self-financed engineering college in Central India. The institute is affiliated with Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU).

BIT Durg provides courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Undergraduate programs cover seven engineering disciplines. Flagship program is Bachelor of Engineering. Postgraduate offerings include Master of Computer Application and Master of Business Administration.
