Located in the National Capital Region, Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management was established in 2008 under the aegis of Indian Institute of Management and Engineering Society. The institute offers a two year full time MBA Program, accredited by AICTE and affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow.

About the MBA Program

Spanning over two years and four semesters, the MBA Program at AKGIM covers 25 compulsory subjects, 6 elective courses, a summer training project, a research project and a comprehensive viva. To give specific attention to each student, the institute has designed a comprehensive evaluation system whereby a dossier is prepared for each student highlighting his/her specific weaknesses and strengths and is given out to the staff members. The specializations offered are:

Eligibility

Those seeking admission into the MBA Program at AKGIM must have completed their graduation from a recognized university. They should also possess an aggregate score of at least 55% in 10th standard examination, 12th standard examination and graduation.

The applicants are also required to appear for UPSEE conducted by State Technical University, UP. The students coming through UPSEE counseling are required to carry these documents:

  • Graduation and High school Intermediate certificates and marksheets (Photocopy)
  • Admission/Rank Letter (Institute copy + photocopy)
  • Fees receipts from counseling centers (Institute copy + photocopy)
  • Ten Black and white passport size photographs
  • Medical Certificate as prescribed by UPSEE 2015 Information Brochure
  • Anti-Ragging Affidavit
  • Address proof of parents (photocopy)
  • Hostel Affidavit (only for those who wish to apply for the hostel)
  • Gap Affidavit
  • Caste Certificate, Domicile certificate, Father’s income certificate (only if applicable)

Admission is granted on the basis of UPSEE counseling.

Fees Structure

The total fees for pursuing the two year MBA Program at AKGIM is Rs.2,34,700, payable in two installments as follows:

The hotel charges differ on the basis of the type of room. The annual charges for the hostel are:

The campus boasts of a lucrative list of recruiters including HDFC, ITC, Velocity, Wave Infratech, Genpact, Reliance Money, Anmol Bankers, ExtraMarks, Expert Scan, Ripples Consultancy, HP India, Café Coffee Day, PUMA, ICICI Securities, CRYO Bank, Deustch Bank and so on.

The students from the batch of 2013-15 witnessed an average package of Rs.2.69 lakhs offered while the highest package secured was Rs.5.49 lakhs per annum.

Campus Facilities

The campus is constituted by 5 classrooms, 1 seminar halls and 3 computer labs and a mouth watering internet speed of 6 mbps. The campus is also equipped with indoor as well as outdoor games facilities and a cafeteria for students as well. AKGIM also boasts of a well-stocked central library as well as a gymnasium.

Hostel Facilities

Provision for accommodation is available for both boys and girls within campus. The hostels have single, double as well as triple seater rooms.

Scholarships

The institute has provision for State Sponsored Scholarships/Freeships for SC/ST candidates belonging to households with gross annual income less than Rs.2,00,000.

Eligibility

To pursue MBA at AKGIM students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.

The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary / Higher Secondary / Pre-degree Examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board / University.

Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor's degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before June 30. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by October 31. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they will be required to produce a letter from their College Principal / Head of Institution stating the exam dates.

Candidates with appropriate industry experience will be given preference for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage in terms of the organization, position held and duration.

Admission Procedure

Selected candidates will be called to attend Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Multiple Group Discussion & Personal Interview lists will be released in phases, both before and after the Application Deadline. The intimation for interview & group discussion is done through registered post and e-mail. In the case of some programs, Group Discussion may not be conducted, in favor of a rigorous interview process.

The selection criteria for calling candidates for admissions is based on multiple factors as follows:

  • Past academic performance
  • Quality & content of the answers in the application form
  • Work experience, if any , in terms of job content & organization
  • Group Discussion & Interview performance (applicable for final admissions only)
  • Extra curricular activities, other interests & accomplishments
  • Competitive Test score (CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT)

A combination of all the above factors are used to determine the eligibility of candidates to be offered final admission. Test scores are NOT the only criteria for selection.

A high test score does not guarantee a call for Group Discussion/Interview. The selection criteria are based on multiple factors as mentioned above.
