University of Engineering & Management (UEM) is a private university located in Kolkata. Approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), UEM strives to achieve the best in the fields of undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral degrees.
Established in 2015, UEM provides an important foothold for students who are eager to hone their skills. The University is the 3rd engineering institute by the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) Group trust.
There are a number of extracurricular activities that take place in the halls of the campus. From Cultural fests to INNOVACIÓN – UEM’s annual tech fest, there is always something interesting that takes place for students to discover their potential.
Admission into the University is usually on the basis of the mark/rank scored in WBJEE, JEE & IEM JEE (University’s own entrance exam). Though , admission into some programs like BCA and BBA is done on Class 12th mark basis.

Application and Admission Procedure
How to Apply
- The application form will be available on the official website of the university. In order to stay updated with the information regarding the admission process.
- Only those candidates who meet up the eligibility criteria as mentioned on the website are deemed to appear for the admission process.
- The application form or the brochure can be obtained from the university admission cell or from the university website.
- The candidates can fill the form online or offline. As soon as the form is filled, the candidates need to wait for the merit list. Once the merit list is obtained the candidate has to take care of the counseling sessions on the basis of which the colleges are allotted.
- The personal details and the educational qualifications need to be filled out in order to move further with the admission process.
- To move further with the admission process, the candidates need to make the payment as per the instructions specified or the mode of payment mentioned in the form.
- The candidate must take out the printout of the application form for future reference.

Hostel and Facilities
UEM houses a modern campus with a vibrant environment and varied tie-ups and associations with industries and companies for the welfare of students. They have a well-resourced library that functions round the clock, stocked with more than 2,50,000 books, magazines, journals, e-books and periodicals.
The Hostel facilities available are very homely and friendly in ambience with separate buildings dedicated for girls and boys and there is the availability of good quality food consisting of various Indian cuisines catering the needs of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian students.
Many social and academic events are conducted regularly for and by the students such as Tree distribution campaign, technical Quiz competition, and the Robotics workshop. Students are also provided with opportunities to participate and organize events in several international universities and many other inter-college competitions are also conducted each semester.
Apart from these, there also is a well developed Cultural club, Finance club and a Sports Society that organizes Badminton and table tennis tournaments on regular basis.

Remarks
The college management ensures that everone is in discipline though it is good for the studenst but some freedom should be given otherise what is the difference between school and college. the campus is good with good number or well equipped labs, library, canteens, small stores for stationeries.
Entrance Exam
I got admitted in the college based on WBJEE rank and the admission process was offline for me. Being a renowned university this was an obvious choice for me. It is because my parents wanted me to get admitted in a college that has a good discipline with a good curriculum.
Fees
For the four-year B.Tech course each and every semester, the tuition fee is approx 60 thousand rupees. Though it is expensive for many of the institutes in West Bengal, on the other hand, our university provides the co-curriculum facilities which have not provided by the other colleges like Placement Training Classes, Government Job Preparations etc.
Placements
The group has close to a 100% placement record and have matained it for a very long time. So we hope for the best. As we are the first batch of this University we are hoping for the best. We have a strong placement cell in our University who gave their more than 100% to prepare us to sit and crack the campus placement. A lot of Placement Training sessions are going on in our University like Aptitude Development, Programming Language Classes, Soft Skills, Group Discussions and Verbal sessions by professional professors.
Hostel and Facilities
Talking about the hostel accommodation, University charged 84000 rupees for the one-year hostel accommodation (both stay and food) which is little bit of expensive compared to the other PG's in Kolkata. So I suggest you to stay in other PG's outside the University hostel.
Alumni
Though I am the senior most student of the University, so as a senior we have a good connection with our juniors. Every time we try to help them with all of the possible directions.
Faculty
Faculties are really very good. Departments have got really efficient and amazing faculty members. They keep us updated with all the recent technological advancements. Students can seek help from the teachers whenever needed, even after college hours.
Campus Life
The gender ratio of the college is around 1:4. I think this is one of the most important parts of University are the Extracurricular activities. There are lots of events happening throughout the year in our campus like E-Cell activities, Rotaract Club activities, Robotics Club events, DST camp activities, Technical and Economical Debates etc.
Academics
In every semester they introduce new subjects related to the GATE exam, CAT exam, UPSC and other PSU exams. This is a very good opportunity for the students who have an aim to go for the government jobs, and the added advantage for the students who want to go for the private jobs.
Internships
College does not provide any internships. We have to do the internship on our own. But definitely, University provides the NOC. University encourages every time to go for the internships and work on your own projects.
Loans and Scholarships
University of Engineering & Management provides their students scholarship on the basis of their merit in the Secondary Education as well as Higher Secondary Education. If a student got 85% up marks in any of the exams he or she is eligible to get a minimum amount of scholarship.
Remarks
College is overall good the university is one of the best colleges here. I took admission as i had heard a lot about this and also my score in wbjee was just good enough to get me admitted into this college. Also the fee charged by them was manageable for me.
Entrance Exam
The college consists scores of engineering entrance tests including WBJEE or JEE Mains. It also conducts its own entrance test by the name of IEMJEE. After getting selected u have to submit your document details to the college and there was nothing like a interview while taking admission. I chose this university because of its renowned placement records and highly qualified professors.
Fees
The fee is 60000 INR per semester. fee is same as normally of all the colleges in West Bengal. For every semester exams, we need to pay 1000 Rs as examination fees. Also, the scholarship facility in our college cuts the fees by some amounts making it easy for some students who have finanacial problems.
Placements
Our university has 100% placement records.Since it is a part of IEM group which has maintained its 100% placement records for the past 25 years hence we get a bit of relief and feel proud of having the chance to continue its legacy in our university.
Hostel and Facilities
Hostel facility is nice. It provides accommodation for about 50 students each in boys and girls hostel.Rent is Rs. 6000 and the quality of food is good for our health.Proper hygiene is also maintained in the hostel kitchens. The hotel provides wifi facility for the students. . Food is quite good for Bengalis specially and non bengali will also find it good.

As the college is a branch of IEM so it have a good alumini network and do provide interaction with the alumini
Faculty
The faculties of our college are highly qualified with some of them are from IIT's and other good colleges of West Bengal.They are all pass out from renowned institutions of India. They are very helpful and efficient towards their professional duties. Also, they are very friendly and resolve all our academic problems.
Campus Life
Campus life is much appreciable.It offers various extracurricular activities like TT, football, Volleyball, Carrom etc. Labs are technologically advanced with the latest apparatus installed. The college has Football and cricket tournament apart from that they have different club like drama, photography , singing
Academics
3 exam slots are there in every semester- two mid-term examinations and then the final semester exam which is divided into two parts i.e. practicals and theory. We need to pass in both practicals and theory separately to get promoted to next year.

Loans and Scholarships
A few Scholarship programs are run by the college which includes providing scholarship based on your entrance test scores or once you gte admitted semester topper are given fee waiver as long as they maintain the minimum required CGPA/percentage. I dont have much info about the loan as i did not take any loan. But they might have some arrangement, interested ppl should have a talk at the admission office they might be able to help you better in this context.
