Chengalpattu Medical College is located in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. It is a government-aided college. College was established in 1965. It began as a District Headquarters hospital. The hospital was subsequently upgraded to a teaching institute. College has a capacity of 250 beds for clinical training. The campus spans 240 acres.
Chengalpattu Medical College offers undergraduate, postgraduate, super-speciality and para-medical courses. MBBS program is its flagship course. The college contains more than 35 departments dedicated to medicine. It trains nearly 500 undergraduate and 100 postgraduate students from across India.
College is affiliated with The TN Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. The Medical Council of India recognizes the institute. It also has approval from National Medical Commission.
Facilities include laboratories, an outpatient department, a library and an auditorium. The college provides hostels for students. It has a fully operational multi-disciplinary research unit. Admission to courses requires entrance exams. The college accepts NEET for undergraduate and NEET PG for postgraduate courses.
Chengalpattu Medical College ranks 5th among government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. Students complete a 1-year internship and receive a stipend of Rs.20,000.
