Sri Muthukumaran Medical College Chennai

Sri Muthukumaran Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (SMMCH&RI) is in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 2010. It is a private medical college.

Campus covers around 27 acres. It includes a Medical College, Multispeciality Hospital, Central Library, Student Hostels, Faculty Quarters, Canteen, Cafeteria and Playgrounds.

SMMCH&RI offers many courses. Primary course is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). It also provides postgraduate programs in General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Otorhinolaryngology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry and Community Medicine. The college admits 150 first-year MBBS students. Faculty-student ratio is 1-5.

The college is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University. It has approval from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India.

The facilities include a computerized library with audio-visual aids and e-resources via the TNMGRMU e-consortium. There are also lecture theaters, skill labs, a demo room, an auditorium, hostels, transportation services, a mess and sports facilities.

Admissions to MBBS are based on NEET UG scores. NEET PG scores are required for postgraduate courses. SMMCH&RI is recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) and its hospital is NABH accredited.

In rankings, SMMCH&RI was 14th among medical colleges in India by Outlook in 2023. IIRF ranked it 51st out of 100 colleges in India in 2023.
