NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY
National Institute of Fashion technology, Chennai is a government institute established in the year 1995 under the affiliation of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It is an institution of design, management and technology for the international fashion business and was given the statutory status in 2006.
The institute offers 7 undergraduate programmes, 3 postgraduate programmes and a doctoral programme. It also has a research department.
NIFT is located at Taramani, Chennai, Tamil Nadu with well equipped labs, libraries, design studio, resource centers, activity centers, auditorium, hostels, sports complex, gyms, medical care, cafeteria and transportation facilities.
The institute also organizes various clubs as a part of their co-curricular activities like “Student Development Activity Clubs”, Social and Environmental club, cultural club, Literary club, Film & Photography club and Sports club. There is also an annual fest called “Fashion Spectrum” for the students to bring out the best and showcase their talent.
The admission into the undergraduate programmes is based on GAT and CAT scores. For postgraduate programmes, it is based on an entrance exam conducted by NIFT.
