Government Engineering College, Idukki (GECI), was established in the year 2000 under the Directorate of Technical Education Government of Kerala. The college is currently affiliated to Kerala Technological University and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.
At the undergraduate level, the college offers B. Tech courses in 5 specialisations, and at the postgraduate level it offers M. Tech programs in 4 specialisations.
The college is spread out over a large 25-acre scenic campus is located at Kuyilimala, Painavu, the headquarters of the Idukki district. The Idukki wildlife sanctuary is located nearby, and the Idukki Dam is just 7 km away from the campus. It offers facilities such as hostels for men and women, a canteen, internet connectivity, a computer centre, an expanding library, an e-library, and a language lab.
The admission to UG and PG programs is on the basis of merit marks scored in Class 12th as well as the candidate’s Bachelors’ degree respectively, as well as scoring/ranking in the KEAM (UG) and GATE (PG) entrance examinations.
Hostel and Facilities
The campus of this college spans over an area of 25 acres in the headquarters of Idukki district. Idukki wildlife sanctuary and dam is located at close proximity of the campus.
The library consists of a whooping amount of 12000 books along with the subscription to e-journals of Indest Consortium. There is availability of internet connection provided to the students under the MNEICT program.
They are able to access internet through the CAN and WAN facility. A college development fund helps in providing assistance to the spacious canteen. Special care of females are taken through the Ladies Amenity Centre.
