The Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society has been in the arena of medical and allied sciences education for more than a century. The Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society is registered under the Societies Act XXI of 1860. and has established administers and maintains, the Christian Medical College Ludhiana along with its modern teaching hospital, the Christian Dental College and the College Nursing. The Society is formed by the Christian Churches in India and the institution is registered as a minority unaided, charitable educational institution.

The Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society seeks to contribute to the real health needs of India by training Christian young men and women as competent, committed and compassionate health workers along with young men and women of others faiths and communities who identify with the goals and spirit of services of the institution It seeks to train health professionally competent socially relevant and spiritually alive with a commitment to serve the unreached and marginalized, in the Sprit of Christ.

  • Its primary aim is to educate and train Christian men and women as health professionals.
  • Through education in this college the Christian Church seeks to make a significant contribution to the health standards of all communities of our nation with special emphasis on health care in the rural underserved and unreached areas/communities in India.
  • The Christian Medical College is recognized by the Medical Council of India. Since July 1999 the College is affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab.
  • It seeks to train health professionally competent socially relevant and spiritually alive with a commitment to serve the unreached and marginalized, in the Spirit of Christ.

  • The college offers MBBS, 66 post graduate diploma and degree medical courses (MS, MD), 35 Allied Health Science courses, super specialty medical courses (DM, MCh), Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and diploma courses in nursing and other fields, Fellowship courses and PhD courses.

  • The MBBS course consists of four and a half years of academics, and one year of CRRI.

  • Students are posted in mission hospitals and secondary care centers

The Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society is registered under the Societies Act XXI of 1860. The CMC has been consistently ranked among the top medical colleges in India. The major achievement is:

  • India Today ranked CMC at second position in 2010, 2012 and 2013.Outlook India ranked CMC at third in 2012.

  • Since May 2010, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana has been involved in operating Children who are physically challenged under the Project Sarva Siksha Abhayan (SSA).

  • The hospital was given the National Citizens Award as India’s best employer in 2003, the MM Award for Excellence in Healthcare and the Gurukulijyoti Award in 2007.

Alumni Association:

The Association of Medical Alumni, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana is a registered body. The office of the association is located adjacent to the Department of Physiotherapy near the Director’s office. All Alumni, since the inception of the MBBS course in 1953 are members of the association.

Eligibility

To pursue MBBS/BDS at CMC students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.

The candidate should be 17 years old (as on 31st December of the admission year). He/She should have appeared for an exam cosidered to be equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam and studied PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). The candidate should have studied English at 10+2 level. Candidate satisfying any of the following criteria are also eligible -

1) Candidates who have appeared for Intermediate examination in science with subjects PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English. Those who have appeared for pre-professional/pre-medical exams with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and have appeared for 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam or intermediate exam are also eligible.

2) Candidates who have passed the first year of a 3 year degree course with subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Biology are also eligible.

3)Candidates who have passed B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and who have cleared 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam with PCB are also eligible.

Admission Procedure

MBBS/BDS Course -

Marks obtained in Maths are not considered for admission into the MBBS course.

Please note that in a non-governmental institutes, 50% of the seats will be filled by management of the institute. Academic merit should be considered while granting admission under management quota. Rest 50% seats will be filled by competent authority based on the academic merit of the candidate.

Academic merit of a candidate will be determined based on the performance in competitive exam conducted by the state governemnt or competent authority or centralized competitive exam conducted at the national level.

Candidate must score at least 50% marks in the competitive exam. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the minimum percentage required is 40%.

For post-graduation courses, performance in first, second and MBBS exam can be considered to determine the academic eligibility of the candidate.
