Majhighariani Institute of Technology & Science (MITS), Rayagada was established in 1999 under the patronage of Basantadevi Charitable Trust. MITS has developed into a reputed Engineering Institution with ISO 9001: 2008 Certification. The college is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha & Berhampur University and also approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. MITS was conceived in response to the acute deficiency in centers of higher learning (Technical) in the country as also, the need to develop relevant human capital to meet the technology and management challenges of 21st Century.

Their vision is to strive towards ever higher levels of excellence and make MITS a global leader in technical education research and development.
