National Institute Of Science And Technology, Berhampur (NIST) Ganjam

The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) is an engineering college located in Berhampur. It was established in 1996. The campus occupies 60 acres. NIST is a private institute.

NIST offers courses in Engineering, Science and Management. The primary course is the B.Tech program which includes many specializations like Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. It has around 4500 students taught by over 130 faculty members. 

This institute is affiliated with Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela. 

NIST has many facilities including separate hostels for boys and girls, a medical clinic, library, laboratories, sports facilities, a gym, a cafeteria, an auditorium and a swimming pool. It also provides Wi-Fi and IT infrastructure.

Admission - JEE Main score is considered for B.Tech admissions. For M.Tech programs GATE scores are preferred. Institute is accredited by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and holds Grade A accreditation from NAAC with a score of 3.22.

According to the Times Engineering Survey 2023 NIST ranks 49th among Indian engineering colleges and 6th in the East Zone.

Placementa -  The highest salary offered in 2023 was INR 19.15 LPA with an average of 5.65 LPA. Many companies like Western Digital, Wipro and TCS, have recruit from NIST.
