Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology also known as Thapar University is a private deemed-to-be university located in Patiala.

Campus spans 250 acres and supports a conducive learning environment. Thapar University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in Engineering, Management, Science and Liberal Arts. The B.Tech and MBA programs are its flagship offerings. Institute hosts seven schools and has two campuses.

As of 2023 the university has enrolled over 11,000 students and employs faculty with 70% having PhD degrees. The facilities include laboratories, a library, a cafeteria, a gym and sports amenities. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus.

Admissions are based on both entrance exams and merit. The university accepts multiple national-level entrance exams, including JEE Main, GATE, CAT, MAT, GMAT and NEET. Thapar University holds an 'A+' grade accreditation from NAAC and is also NBA accredited.

In NIRF Ranking 2023, it ranks 22nd among private and government universities in India. In QS World University Ranking 2023 it is placed in 1001-1200 band. University has established agreements with top global universities including Virginia Tech and Trinity College.
