The institute has received the deemed university status under the UGC Act 1956 and has been granted the ‘Elite status and center of excellence’ by the government of Maharashtra and is NBA accredited.

The college offers B. Tech courses in- Food engineering, Chemical engineering, Plastic and polymer engineering, Dyestuff and intermediates technology, Fibres and textiles processing Technology, Oleo chemicals and surfactants technology, Surface coating technology and Pharmaceuticals chemistry and technology.

The institute also offers a Bachelor in Chemical engineering and Bachelors in Pharmacy. Admission to the graduate level courses is based on the marks scored in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the class XII examinations and the minimum percentage required in these subjects is 50%. Selection is also based on the AIEEE entrance examination.

The institute has post graduate courses which are highly acclaimed and accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. And moreover the institute offers outstanding PhD programs too.

The institute has very good hostels for both boys and girls with mess facilities, a fully computerized library with 38200 books , 25 national and 120 international journals, sports ground, auditorium, and an entrepreneurship cell.

Campus life

The college, Institute of chemical engineering is located in Matunga, Mumbai which was established in the year of1933 widely spread over an area of 16 acres of land. The college is equipped with central library with books, titles, journals, magazines and newspapers. The library houses digital library too in order to access e-books, e-journals and e-learning.

The other facilities provided by the college to its students includesports complex, guest house, hostel, mess facility, training and placement cell, information processing center, transportation, insurance, medical center and animal house.

Hostel

The college provides 5 hostels for its students in which 3 hostels are for boys and 2 hostels are for girls. Separate hostels are provided to juniors and seniors of the college. The hostel has sports facility, WIFI, mess facility, T.V, Reading Room, Playground, Health Centre, Gymkhana, Library and Study Room Facilities.

The hostel students are provided with senior doctor and senior dietician in the medical center. The college awards its students with MCM and NSF scholarships to its students apart from the scholarships given by the state government.

Student life

The college has started a program called TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Program) in order to help students improve their technical skills in their respective departments and fields.
