It was established in 1981 by the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal. NMIMS operates as a Deemed University and is a private institute. The campus is situated on V. L. Mehta Road, Vile Parle in West Mumbai.
NMIMS offers different courses through 17 specialized schools. These programs focus on fields like Management, Engineering, Architecture, Commerce, Law, Pharmacy, Design, Liberal Arts and Agricultural Sciences. Institute's flagship program is two-year MBA.
