The Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) is located in Nagpur. It was established in 1960. VNIT holds status of an Institute of National Importance.

Campus covers 215 acres. It is an autonomous public university. VNIT offers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees in many different fields like engineering, technology, architecture and science. The B.Tech program is its flagship course.

The institute has many facilities like a large library, specialized labs, hostels for boys and girls, sports areas, medical services, WIFI access and well-equipped classrooms.

Admissions are accepted through national entrance exams like JEE Main, GATE, UGC-NET and CSIR-NET. VNIT undergoes counseling through JoSAA, CCMT or CCMN after these exams. The institute is accredited by AICTE and many programs receive NBA accreditation.

In rankings, VNIT was 82nd overall and 41st in the engineering category by NIRF in 2023. Institute has international collaborations - an MOU with CESI Graduate School of Engineering, Paris.
