Mumbai University (MU) is one of the oldest universities in Maharashtra and the earliest state universities in India. It is a public university established 160 years ago in the year 1857 by John Wilson with the motto of providing good character and righteous conduct to the students in terms of education and self development.
The university has been accredited and approved by UGC, AIU and NAAC. It has around 711 colleges affiliated to it. The urban campus of the university includes three campuses across Mumbai namely the Kalina campus, Thane sub campus and the Fort campus.
The institutes which were previously affiliated to the university have now become autonomous institutes or universities. It is one of the largest universities of the world.
It has been accredited with A-grade by the NAAC team and has been rated with a 5-star status.
Application and Admission Procedure
Below is a step by step process of how you can apply for this university-
To apply online for admission, the application is made available on the website. The candidates will know about it when the PDF file is updated for the admissions.
STEP-1: The candidates need to take out the printout of the application forms which can be downloaded from the official website. The printout of the application form has to be taken out on the legal size plain paper and the candidates are required to fill the details in the prescribed format mentioned.
STEP-2: The hard copies of the form along with the demand draft have to be submitted with the supporting documents as mentioned.

STEP-3: Once the candidate fills the application form, the registration process will be complete and a user id and password will be generated on the registered email-Id.
STEP-4: Now, the candidate needs to login and register. Fill all the information such as the personal details and the educational qualifications to proceed.
STEP-5: The next step is to upload the photo and the signature as per the dimensions specified for the desired course.
STEP-6: Click on the save button to proceed and take a printout of the application form for the future reference.
The candidates can pay online or offline via demand draft depending upon their preference.
Hostel and Facilities
The University of Mumbai provides hostel to the students enrolled in the university. The university provides hostel for both boys and girls.
There are total 7 hostels, including one International hostel. In the hostels, there are guest rooms too, for the parents. The hostel provides central computing facility to its students. The students can also visit the library anytime of the day. The hostels provide gym facility to the students, to be fit and active. There are various sports which are organized and the hostellers are instructed to attend those events.
The University of Mumbai has very rich culture, the university students celebrates all the festivals in the campus with equal charm. There are various events like annual function, annual sports day which are organised by the university.

1) 3 year Law Degree Course - A candidate who has graduated in any discipline from a recognized University can appear for L.L.B. course
2) Integrated Degree Program - Candidate must have passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam or an exam cosidered to be equivalnt to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam can enrol for integrated degree program (LLB and a first degree in any other subject).
Candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree after taking up other courses through distance mode are also considered eligible for integrated degree course. But those candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree through distance mode or from open universities without any basic qualification are not eligible for admission into law courses.
Minimum marks for admission into law courses -
1) 40% for SC/ST candidates
2) 45% for other candidates
