Remarks

The College management was very active and honest in their duties. I have learned a lot from this place and that knowledge is completely irreplaceable. The institute has an anti-ragging committee to ensure that there will be no such incident happen to innocent newly admitted student by the seniors.

Entrance Exam

Fees

The Presidency college being a fully funded Govt. Institution, the fees structure was very feasible for normal middle class people. The science department fees was a little higher than the other streams due to the Lab fees.

Placements

During my time, the placements here were great. There was ample job opportunities in IT/ITES companies, Educational Institutions, R&D Labs, Banks, Editorial and publishing houses. Almost all of the batch gets placed. Though to get into top companies you have to be very compepetive as everyone around here is great.

Hostel and Facilities

The hostel facilities are good but the hostel is small and cannot accommodate everyone and every year there is a fight to get the hostel. Locals are not given hostel. The hostel are located a bit far especially the girls hostel. The mess food was not that great but there was a canteen run the hostel authority which serves snacks and other eateries at a nominal cost.

Alumni

The college has a dedicated Presidency College Alumni Association where students can become a member of. There are various meets organized for get togethers.

Faculty

Campus Life

Campus life is good as most of the students are day scholars and do come from various socio-economic backgrounds. The gender ratio was reasonably balanced based on the departments e.g. department like English, Sociology, Political Science etc. Politcally, the college is motivated towards anti establishment for long but the politics never crossed the limits in our times. There were many extracurricular activities like drama, music, sports, debate competition, magazine writing etc.

Academics

Three exams were there each at the end of each year. Now the exam patterns have changed and there are altogether 6 semesters in B Sc & 4 semesters in M Sc. Now Presidency college has become Presidency University and it conducts its own exams.

Internships

Our college does provide internship but the opportunities were very limited and many companies used to visit the campus. The best part is that the internship companies hire back the students who they have interned for.

Loans and Scholarships

There was a departmental as well as College scholarship available to meritorious ans deserving students. The scholarships can be availed on producing proof of parents annual income certificate and meeting some minimum academic score.

Remarks

Management of the colleges is pretty impressive as well as facilities a good. The college has no tolerance to discrimination made by anyone towards anyone. I have learned academic as well as a lot of life lessons here.

Entrance Exam

To get into the college i gave the university zone entrance test. Since i got top 50 and i was directly admitted into program of my choice. Also i had to give a brief interview to the respective department head.

Fees

Since the university is central government funded university, the fee of the college is very reasonable. The fee is different from department to department and some of the departments have the same fee. Over all it is affordable buy a middle class family.

Placements

The college has a dedicated placements cell that brings a lot of companies come during the placement season and students have a lot of choice. Most of the companies are domestic but also some of the international company. The salary depends on the company and your skills.

Hostel and Facilities

The college provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Rooms are provided on first come first serve basis that is the reason they are limited seat and not all students can be accommodate it. Only those students who not have a permanent residence in the city awarded hostels. The boys hostel is located in the college campus but the girls hostel is located in some distance. There is a canteen where food provided was at nominal cost.

Alumni

Seniors in the college is very understanding as well as there are alumni visits us regularly. Students can here interact with ex students who put a hold respectable positions in the industry.

Faculty

Security of the college is very understanding but some of them barood. Some young faculty who do not have enough experience and justice from the box stop the management should do something about them other than that the rest of the faculty is good
