Thiruvalluvar University is a public state university located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Government of Tamil Nadu established it in 2002. It operates on a campus of 112.68 acres in Serkadu, near Vallimalai, about 16 km from Vellore city.

University provides postgraduate and doctoral courses in Arts and Science. It consists of ten academic departments- Tamil, English, Economics, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Bio-Technology. The faculty at the university numbers over 1,000 and the student population exceeds 20,000. As an affiliating university it supervises 102 Arts and Science colleges including ten government colleges.

Thiruvalluvar University offers many facilities, including sports, a central instrumentation facility and a student welfare bureau. The university accepts scores from multiple entrance exams for admissions and also conducts its own entrance exam for postgraduate and doctoral courses.

The university is approved by the UGC and has a 'B' grade from NAAC. In the 2024 rankings Thiruvalluvar University is placed 370th nationally and 6334th globally.
