Jawaharlal Nehru National College Of Engineering (JNNCE) Shimoga

Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering (JNNCE) is located in Shimoga. The institute began in 1980. The National Education Society founded it. JNNCE is a private engineering college. It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The All India Council for Technical Education recognizes the college.

JNNCE offers seven undergraduate and four postgraduate engineering degrees. Flagship program is Bachelor of Engineering (BE). College has departments in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Information Science and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

Approximately 3,800 students attend college. The staff consists of about 400 members. JNNCE does not have any affiliated colleges.

The campus covers more than 55 acres. Facilities include a library, auditorium, modern classrooms, hostels, transport services, laboratories, sports areas and a cafeteria.

JNNCE accepts scores from many entrance exams. These include COMEDK UGET and KCET for undergraduate courses. For postgraduate courses, it takes Karnataka PGCET and GATE scores.

The college holds accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and AICTE. It also has a 'B' grade accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). JNNCE ranks 7th in Karnataka and 34th in India according to India Today. The Week ranks it 30th in South India.

Placements - Each year over 600 students secure placements in companies like Infosys and Wipro. Highest salary package is 12 lakh per annum while lowest is 3 lakh per annum. Around 70% of students receive job placements.
