Description

The Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) was established in 1955. It is a government medical college. It is an autonomous entity under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

BMCRI offers different courses, including MBBS, MD, MS, BSc Nursing, MSc Nursing, DM and M.Ch at UG, PG and SS levels. The institute also provides diploma and fellowship programs. The MBBS program serves as the flagship course. BMCRI has a student-faculty ratio of approximately 30-1.

BMCRI provides multiple facilities like hostels, a library, medical facilities and an auditorium. It has five significant hospitals and pharmacies. The institute accepts NEET UG scores for MBBS admission and NEET PG scores for MD/MS.

Recognition comes from Medical Council of India and it has NABH accreditation for different courses. In 2023, BMCRI was ranked 13th out of 57 colleges in India by India Today. It is ranked 1st in Bangalore and 2nd in Karnataka.

BMCRI collaborates with ISRO for a Tele-Medicine unit. A Clinical Skill centre was established with funding from Infosys Foundation. College provides a one-year internship to each student after program completion.
