The Orissa School of Mining Engineering (OSME) is located in Keonjhar. It was established in 1956 under the state government's skill development and technical education department. OSME specializes in diploma education in mining engineering. It is only institute in Odisha and eastern region that offers mining courses. The campus covers 44 acres.

OSME is a public college affiliated with the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training. It offers diploma programs in mining, mechanical, electrical, drilling and metallurgical engineering. The flagship program is the diploma in mining engineering.
