Government Engineering College, Barton Hill Thiruvananthapuram

The Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Trivandrum (GECBH) is located in Thiruvananthapuram. The Government of Kerala established it in the academic year 1999-2000.

It is affiliated with the University of Kerala for the final year B.Tech batch and APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University for other batches.

College offers five B.Tech and four M.Tech programs. B.Tech programs include Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Each program allows an intake of 60 regular students and 6 lateral entry students per year. GECBH has 30+ faculty members. The faculty-student ratio is 1-23.

GECBH provides different facilities including an air-conditioned library with approximately 8,140 volumes and 4,050 titles. It offers access to an online journal database linked to IEC (IEEE & IEE) and DELNET. The college has a hostel specifically for girls.

Admissions to the B.Tech program require scores from the KEAM test. M.Tech program requires GATE exam scores. GECBH is approved by AICTE and has NBA accreditation for its programs.

In terms of ranking, GECBH was ranked 110 out of 170 colleges in India in 2023 by IIRF. It has partnered with Mercedes-Benz India for the Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics course. 

Placements - In the 2012-13 placement season it reported 116 placements in notable companies.
