Sri Aurobindo College was established in the year 1972 by Delhi University. Named after the philosopher and patriot-poet Sri Aurobindo, the college is located in South Delhi in Malviya Nagar.
The college follows a curriculum framed by the University of Delhi. It consists of 14 various departments that offer 9 Bachelor’s programs and a Master’s program. Following are the most popular courses:
- B.A English.
- B.Sc. Electronics.
- B.A Hindi.
- M.A Hindi.
Apart from classrooms, libraries, and laboratories, the institute consists of several other facilities such as an annual medical check-up, anti-smoking nodal officers, an NCC unit, an NSS unit, and a Students Union.
Students are given admission based on merit. Eligible candidates are requested to log-in on the official website and print the admission form.
Application and Admission Procedure
Sri Aurobindo College comes under the jurisdiction of Delhi University. Therefore, students need to fill the common application form from the website of DU.
Below are the steps are given for filling the form
- Do the registration by entering details in the registration form.
- Log in with your recently registered email id
- Fill the application form with all the details; upload your passport size photo and signature.
- Select the courses from the list for which you want to apply.
- Cross check all the details before paying the application fee.
- Pay the application form charges online which is 150 rupees for general category candidates and 75 rupees for reserved category candidates.
- Take print out of application fee receipt.
- Take print out of the submitted enrollment form.
Admissions in colleges under Delhi University are done through merit cum cut off lists. University will release cut off lists and candidates need to report to the college along with all the important documents for verification.
Hostel and Facilities
The campus is spread over 16 acres of land with trees around the campus. The college provides their students gym, playground, Amphitheatre, library with separate reading sections, seminar halls, parking space, canteens, cafeterias, central library and resource center, medical center, communication lab, computer lab, e-Library, conference room, transportation facility.
The university is divided into 3 parts. One for management, one for administration and then the other one for academic and other activities to take place.
The college does not provide any hostel facilities but PGs are available in nearby locations to the college.
The students are awarded and provided scholarships based on their performances in different fields.
There are various students’ clubs Moksh (Dramatics), Crunk (Dance), Bandwagons (fashion), 3Ps (photography, painting, poster making), Allegro (Western Music), Sage (Debate), Salvation (General Society), Spic Macay (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), Taleem (Indian Music), Aakraya (Commerce).
The Phoenix-Pro (literacy) is conducting Odyssey for all the students to showcase their literature skills. There are other social societies in the college NCC and NSS.
