Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College of Science, Arts and Commerce is being run by Jagadguru Renukacharya Education Society which was founded in 1945 under the name of Veerashaiva Education Society Our objective is 'Harnessing the energies and resources of the people to advance civilized life and promote social service and for the instruction and diffusion of useful knowledge' The institution caters to educational needs of students from various sections of society.

SJRC simultaneously strives to be one of the best and the most outstanding undergraduate college amoung the compitators. It seeks to achieve the highest levels of distinction in the discovery and transmission of knowledge and understanding, and in the education of graduate students. At the same time, SJR is distinctive among colleges in its commitment to undergraduate teaching.

The College provides its students with academic, extracurricular and other resources—in a residential community committed to diversity in its student body, faculty and staff—that help them achieve at the highest scholarly levels and prepare them for positions of leadership and lives of service in many fields of human endeavor.

The admissions of students and recruitment of teachers are as per the government norms. The admission process is transparent as per the direction of the Government.

The conventional method of black board method of teaching is followed, often supplemented with the usage of modern tools such as LCB, OHP, Educational CD's, Models, Charts etc.

The institution encourages the teachers, to pursue research work leading to M.Phil / Ph.D programme under FIP or extemally. Three UGC sponsored Minor Research Project from the Department Chemistry, Botany and Kannada have been completed. There are 3 on going minor research project from the department of Electronics, Mathematics and Kannada. The college has also organized two National Level Conferences. The college has also taken up student Research Project funded by NRCLPI in order to motivate students for research projects. The institution has excellent infrastructure and learning resources.
