The University of Rajputana, now known as the Rajasthan University is a public university founded on 8th January, 1948. The University is located in Jaipur. It got its current name, ‘University of Rajasthan’ in 1956. The University campus is spread over a sprawling area of 2.85 km2.
The University holds the motto “Dharmo Vishwasya Jagatah Pratishtha” meaning “Dharma is the firm foundation upon which the entire universe stands”. The University is affiliated AIU and UGC.
The University has 7 constituent colleges and many affiliated colleges.
The central library of the University is located near the main gate. It has a seating capacity of over 400. The library is stocked with over 4.7 books and journals. There are also subscriptions to over 7000 e-journals.
The University runs 18 Hostels presently (13 in the Main Campus & 5 in Constituent Colleges)
‘Basant’ is an inter hostel Youth Festival, which is organized to provide a common competitive environment to the students. It acts as a great source for reviving cultural and sports ethics among the students.
Hostel and Facilities
Located in the suburbs of Jaipur, the central campus of the University is spread over 338.14 acres and the satellite campus with the affiliated colleges is spread over 138.21 acres.
The University has 10 hostels for boys and 9 for girls, with 2 more hostels coming up for reserved students. There are also teachers’ hostel, working women’s hostel and faculty houses in the main campus.
The overall eco-friendly environment is well maintained with lawns and parks that are home to some very rare species of plants.
The central library has more than 4.7 lakh books, subscriptions to 150 journals, magazines and 7000 e-journals with a seating capacity of 400 students. It also has an exclusive collection of old documents of great research value dating back to 19th century.
Medical facilities include essential medicines being provided free of cost and regular and specialised health camps conducted. It has allopathic, homoeopathic and ayurvedic dispensaries.

1) 3 year Law Degree Course - A candidate who has graduated in any discipline from a recognized University can appear for L.L.B. course
2) Integrated Degree Program - Candidate must have passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam or an exam cosidered to be equivalnt to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam can enrol for integrated degree program (LLB and a first degree in any other subject).
Candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree after taking up other courses through distance mode are also considered eligible for integrated degree course. But those candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree through distance mode or from open universities without any basic qualification are not eligible for admission into law courses.
Minimum marks for admission into law courses -
1) 40% for SC/ST candidates
2) 45% for other candidates
