Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU) is located in Ajmer. It was established in 1987 as a State Public University.

MDSU offers numerous courses across 24 teaching departments. These include subjects like history, political science, economics, botany, zoology and law. The university has a selective admission process based on entrance exams. Admissions for most programs depend on merit from prior qualifying exams. For PhD program candidates must take Research Entrance Test (RET). M.Phil program requires candidates to pass Admission Eligibility Test (AET). The MBA program accepts CMAT scores followed by university counseling.

The university features many facilities, including science laboratories, a computer center and a central library.
