Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (CIT) is a private educational institute located in Gubbi, Tumkur. It occupies a campus of 25.5 acres. CIT was established in 2001 by the Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Rural Education Society.
CIT offers undergraduate (B.E.) and postgraduate programs (MTech & MBA). The academic year typically starts in August or September. Admissions follow Government of Karnataka's regulations. Karnataka Examination Authority conducts admissions for undergraduate courses. Postgraduate admissions happen through common entrance tests like PGCET, GATE, KMAT and MAT.
CIT is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University in Belgaum. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the institute. CIT holds an ISO 9001-2015 certification and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Institute also received a B++ grade and a CGPA of 2.99 from NAAC.
Institute organizes multiple events including a state-level robotics competition called ROBOCON. CIT has a 3-star rating from IIC MHRD India and has received "Excellent Engineering Institute in Rural India Award." Director Dr. Suresh D S received an award for his contributions to technical education and research in 2023.
