Government College Of Engineering (GCE) Kannur

The Government College of Engineering, Kannur (GCEK) is located in Kannur. It was established in 1986 by the Directorate of Technical Education under the Government of Kerala. GCEK is a public institute and is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The campus covers 68 acres.

The institute offers B.Tech Degree programs in five branches- Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. The B.Tech and M.Tech programs are its flagship courses. College has an annual intake of 330 students across these programs. The faculty-student ratio is 1-21.

GCEK has different facilities including 7 buses for transportation, hostels for male and female students, a co-operative store, a canteen and recreational facilities. Library contains more than 23,000 books.

For admissions GCEK accepts scores from Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) exam for B.Tech courses and GATE scores for M.Tech courses. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). All undergraduate programs have accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the period of 2023 to 2026.

In 2023 rankings, GCEK was rated 79 out of 170 colleges in India by Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF). College collaborates with Delft University in The Netherlands.

Placements - The average salary package is 3.5 LPA with the highest at 18 LPA. Approximately 80% of students secure placements. Companies like TCS, Cognizant, Qburst and L&T frequently visit for recruitment.
