Raja Balwant Singh College, Agra, formerly known as Balwant Rajput College, is well recognized for its phenomenal epoch making progress. This institution was started as a small boarding house for 20 students, way back in 1885 in the out house of 'The Kotla House' in Bagh Farzana Area of Civil Lines, Agra. The credit for the same goes to Late Shri Raja Balwant Singh ji, Ruler of Awagarh Estate and the Founder of this institution. This Boarding House got recognised as High school in 1899, from where the first batch of students appeared at the Matriculation examination of Allahabad University in 1901.The High School was raised to the level of an Intermediate College in 1928 and to that of a degree college in 1940.
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, R.B.S college, Bichpuri(Agra) was started in the year 1996 with three branches of engineering viz., Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Food Technology. Initially these courses were affiliated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. The branch of Chemical Engineering was added in the year 1999. In the year 2000, the F.E.T got affiliation from Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8th May 2000 vide Act No. 1248(2)XVII-V-I-I-19-2000 Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 23 of 2000. In the year 2004, two more branches of Biotechnology and Mechanical Engineering were started and the intake of the existing branches of CS and EC was raised from 60 to 90 each and in FT and CHE the intake was increased from the existing 40 to 60 each.. In the year 2006, M.Tech course in Food Technology was started with an intake of 18 seats.
The Faculty of Architecture & Town Planning and the Faculty of Pharmacy were added from the academic session 2011-12 for the B.Arch and B.Pharma Courses. The intake of Biotechnology branch was increased from the initial 30 seats to 60 seats. The institute got approval from AICTE to open two new courses of B.Tech; Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 seats each. M.Tech course in Electronics and Communications with 18 seats was also started from the academic session 2012-13. All these courses are approved by AICTE and are affiliated to U.P. Technical University, Lucknow.
AICTE, Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow (UPTU) and State Government have given their approval of the council to integrate the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Architecture &Town Planning into one campus and officially changed the institute name from Faculty of Engineering and Technology, R.B.S College, Bichpuri, Agra into the name of Raja Balwant Singh Engineering Technical Campus, Bichpuri, Agra (UP)-283105. |
